RICE FLAKE PORRIDGE

Rice flakes or quinoa – 2/3 cup

Milk 1 1/2 cups ( I use half rice or almond and half water)

Raisins/sultanas – handful

Almonds (soaked and peeled) 5 (per person)

Cardamon powder – 1/2 tsp

Cinnamon powder – 1/2 tsp

Fennel powder – 1/2 tsp

Raw sugar or rapdura sugar – 1 tbsp.

First soak rice flakes in 1cup of water for a few minutes. Heat the saucepan and add ghee 1 tbsp. Let it melt, throw the excess water from the rice flakes and add rice flakes to the pan. Toast it for 2 minutes. Add milk, cardamom and cinnamon and fennel powder. Keep stirring, let it cook 7 – 8 minutes, then add the raisins and almonds. Before taking off the fire add raw sugar and cook for another minute. Serve warm. This is very gentle on the gut and nourish for the bowels.
