What is acupuncture?
The origins of acupuncture can be traced back over 2,000 years, making it one of the oldest health care systems in the world. Today acupuncture supports the treatment of a wide number of conditions.
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of fine sterile, single use, disposable needles into specific sites (acupuncture points) along the body’s energy pathways (meridians) to clear energy blockages and encourage the normal flow of energy or Qi throughout the body.
- Acupuncture focuses on drug-free pain relief
- It can be effective in the treatment of acute and chronic ailments as shown in research studies which have been collated in the “Acupuncture Evidence Project”.
- Takes an holistic approach by addressing the underlying cause of the condition as well as the symptoms.
- The approach links body, mind and emotions.
- Assists in the prevention of disease and the maintenance of general well-being.
What is Community Acupuncture?
Firstly there’s no difference in the outcomes between Standard Acupuncture and Community Acupuncture. You will receive the same level of treatment and care. The only major difference is the experience as Community Acupuncture is provided in a shared environment.
This has its benefits, namely there are no appointment times needed (arrive any time within opening hours). The main advantage of Community Acupuncture is the low treatment fee, only$25 which makes having Acupuncture extremely accessible.
When you arrive for an acupuncture session you will be given a space to relax either a chair or a massage table. The acupuncturist will come along and assess your condition, work out a treatment plan and then provide the appropriate treatment. Peaceful music is playing and the ambiance in the treatment room allows for a relaxing experience.
History of Community Acupuncture
China socialised medicine throughout the ages and group acupuncture is still practiced there in many of the Traditional Medicine Hospitals. However in the West social medicine is still a relatively new concept.
Why Choose Community Acupuncture?
The object of Community/Group Acupuncture is that the community setting creates a powerful healing environment. As social beings we quickly pick up on the mood of a room or group of people. In the community treatment room most people quickly enter into a deep state of rest, relaxation and healing.
Because we are so often isolated from one another in our everyday lives, we may not be tuned into energy exchanges. WE are taught to value our privacy, especially when we are ill or in pain. We just want to be left alone, but by seeking ways to connect with the healing energies of others we are able to utilize the energy to enhance healing.
The reasons most people seek acupuncture treatment are for pain, depression/emotional issues and various other forms of suffering. All of these symptoms serve to isolate us in one way or another. While peacefully resting with strategically placed needles in our bodies alongside others doing the same, we acknowledge that we are all in this together, that we are not separate and ultimately when we are unified we can achieve and accomplish things far beyond what we could ever imagine on our own.
